Before installing the Intel® 10GbE Server Adapter, check your system for the following minimum configuration requirements.
IA-32-based (32-bit x86 compatible)
The latest BIOS for your system
One of the following slot types, depending on your adapter:
PCI-X slot (v1.0a compliant), 3.3v PCI-X signaling, operating at 66, 100 or 133 MHz
PCI bus master slot (v2.3 compliant), 3.3v PCI signaling, 32- or 64-bit, operating at 33 or 66 MHz
One open PCI-Express slot (v1.0a or newer), 8x or 16x.
Microsoft* Windows* XP, with latest service pack installed (Intel PRO/10GbE CX4 Server Adapter only)
Microsoft Windows Server* 2003 (Enterprise Server and Data Center Server versions), with latest service pack installed
Microsoft Windows Server 2008, with the latest service pack installed
Microsoft Windows 7
Linux*, v2.4 kernel or higher
FreeBSD*, v4.8 kernel or higher
Intel supplies 64-bit drivers for the following operating systems:

A platform that supports Intel® EM64T will run in either 64-bit mode or 32-bit compatibility mode. In order for it to run in 64-bit mode, the following requirements must be met:
The Intel EM64T system must have a 64-bit BIOS that takes advantage of Intel® Extended Memory 64 Technology
One of the supported 64-bit operating systems must be installed
The installer for the adapter drivers will only list the drivers that are compatible with the currently running operating system.
If the system is running in compatibility mode, only IA-32 drivers will be available.
If the system is running in 64-bit mode, only Intel EM64T drivers will be available
