Diamond Multimedia is working closely with Microsoft to provide support for all of our graphics cards for Windows® 98. So for almost all graphics cards we sold more than about half a year ago, you'll be able to find a driver in Windows® 98. For all newer products like Viper V330, the Fire GL Series, Stealth II S220 we have updated drivers available. You can find these drivers on our web site www.diamondmm.de. On the Microsoft site http://www.microsoft.com/hwtest you can find all Microsoft-certified drivers for our graphics cards (so-called WHQL drivers). This Microsoft certification process includes compatibility tests with Windows® 95 and Windows® 98. Most of these drivers are also available on our web sites. 1-2: What should I watch out for while updating my system? With Windows® 98, you can upgrade your existing Windows® 95 or Windows® 3.1x system. To prevent any problems you could have with older drivers in your system, please reconfigure your system to Standard VGA and restart the system. Then it's safe to start the update. 1-3: What about the multi-monitor option? If you want to use multiple graphics cards in your PC, we recommend right now that you use the drivers that Microsoft ships with this BETA 3. 1-4: What about my old SPEA graphics boards? Windows® 98 includes a lot of so-called 'generic drivers'. These drivers will be installed automatically and should run. In some cases, if you have a problem with these drivers, we recommend that you use the SPEA Windows® 95 drivers. Modems ====== 2-1: Which Diamond modems are supported by Windows® 98? Windows® 98 BETA 3 includes hardware information for all US versions of the SupraExpress modems and the SupraFax Modem 288 and the SupraFax Modem 288i. For all other non-US modems, please use the standard Windows® 95 *.inf file that we shipped with your modem or that we provide on our online services. Sound ===== 3-1: Does Windows 98 BETA 3 support Monster Sound? The current drivers for Monster Sound run with Windows® 98 BETA 3. You can also use the drivers Windows® 98 BETA 3 provides. SCSI Adapter ============ 4-1: Does Windows 98 BETA 3 support the FirePort series? Please use for FirePort 20, FirePort 40 and FirePort 40 Dual the current drivers we are providing for Windows® 95. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- eof
