Tips for ISDN Access to the DIAMOND Team Europe BBS Germany ============================================================ ISDN Line (X.75): +49-8151-266334 At the moment manufacturers of ISDN cards still take very different routes when it comes to providing access to ISDN BBS systems for their clients. Please find below some tips as regards ISDN cards which are currently widely spread. Should you require some more technical support, please contact the manufacturer of your board. >> Tips for ISDN card Fritz!card from avm ------------------------------------------------- · In order to have access to a BBS via ISDN you need the (ISDN-)terminal software FRITZ!Com, which comes with the ISDN card. · Please do not (!) use the software Fritz!Data provided along with the ISDN card, with which you can e.g. log into another computer and move around its directory structure. This software program is not suitable for connecting to BBS! · In FRITZ!Com please configure the B-channel as follows: x.75, transparent, SLP. · If you have CAPIPORT from avm (www.avm.de) installed under Windows 95, you could also use HyperTerminal and select 'avm ISDN Mailbox x.75' as 'Modem'. >> Tips for ISDN cards from TELES --------------------------------- · Please do not (!) use the software EFIX provided together with the TELES ISDN card, with which you can e.g. log into another computer and move around its directory structure. This software program is not suitable for connecting to BBS systems! · Windows 95: Start HyperTerminal, select "TELES X.75 Modem" (VCOMM-driver) as the 'Modem' used. The VCOMM driver is there from CAPI v3.20 onwards (downloadable individually from TELES.support server or obtainable on CD from TELES). · Under Windows 3.11 a terminal program, like e.g. Tullicom (16-bit software) can be used in connection with WINCOMM. The WINCOMM interface will be configured to X.75 with the at command "atb4". WINCOMM is included in all current software versions for Windows 3.x. >> Users of Other ISDN Boards ----------------------------- > FOSSIL Drivers Installation ------------------------------ If you are using another ISDN board and if your manufacturer can't provide a solution, proceed as follows: > Installing a FOSSIL driver for Windows 95 ... · Load the ISDN drivers as usual in AUTOEXEC.BAT · Then load a Windows FOSSIL driver (such as CFOS WIN, available in the BBS (file area: 'DET Software', please note the README.WIN created during unpacking for information about installation). > Installing a FOSSIL driver for DOS or Windows 3.x ... · Load the ISDN drivers as usual in your AUTOEXEC.BAT · Then load a DOS FOSSIL driver (such as CFOS DOS, available in the BBS (file area: 'DET Software', please note the README files that are created during unpacking). > Setting Up a Connection using the FOSSIL Driver ------------------------------------------------- · The FOSSIL driver maps your ISDN card to a COM port, which you can use as the COM port for your terminal software. It makes the terminal software think the ISDN card is just another modem. · Now start your terminal program. In the terminal program, select the (new) COM parameter. · Make certain that your ISDN card is being addressed correctly. Do this by entering the command atz in terminal mode. The ISDN card should return OK. If not please contact the ISDN board manufacturer. · Now dial +49-8151-266334 from your telephone directory or in terminal mode. · Proceed as described in the "Logging into the BBS" section below. >> Logging into the BBS ----------------------- · Congratulations - you have an ISDN connection to the BBS! Now please enter your first and last names after the prompts or use a login available from previous sessions or simple 'Guest'. · To get a correct display of the BBS menus please set your font to 'Terminal'. · The selection of drivers, updates, etc. works in the same way as with a modem. For transfer of downloads, we recommend Zmodem as transfer protocol. Rel.0597ah
