Diamond SupraExpress 56e PRO is a fully featured data, fax and voice modem with top-rated communications and Internet software. The new modem offers top-level 56K and is designed for the new ITU-approved 56K standard V.90 for ultimate compatibility. Plus, this powerful modem combines the new standard V.90 and K56flex technology for immediate compatibility with lots of Internet service providers. More and more ISPs will offer 56K access in the coming months, as the new ITU standard is now available.

The new 56K components are redesigned from the scratch: better and faster datapump, processor and crystal, 4x SRAM size to deliver more high-speed storage. Last but not least an higher DTE rate increases the throughput capability to 230 Kbps. All current ITU modem standards are supported.

Shotgun technology

The Shotgun technology for which the new 56K modem is prepared for is software that links two modem calls allowing Internet access speed up to 112K with two analog phone lines. It works with existing ISP equipment and analog telephone lines and preserves the second line for voice calls. Users may continue using an already existing modem. Shotgun technology will combine the speeds of the existing modem and the new SupraExpress 56e PRO. The result is one powerful connection to the Internet. Plus, Shotgun technology will offer "smart" features which free up the second phone line for other uses, while maintaining a very reliable Internet connection. Shotgun firmware can be downloaded free of charge for all SupraExpress 56e PRO users end of May ’98 . Shotgun will require a second analog telephone line, a second modem (any manufacturer and speed) and an ISP using ASCEND MAX central site modems.
