Compatibility 4. Known Restrictions 5. Support / Service / Latest Software 1. General Notes ================ IMPORTANT! You must IMPERATIVELY read this README file and all the documentation supplied BEFORE you continue the installation! Otherwise the company cannot accept any responsibility for claims that may be caused as a consequence. 2. Installation =============== The program calls stated below refer to the installation from the installation disks and the SuperCD ('SuperCD'). If you have only floppies in the box, the software at the floppies will be newer as the current CD. 2.1 Installation under Windows 95/98 ===================================== If you have plugged the board into your PC and you restart Windows 95/98, a new Multimedia Device will be detected. Please use the INF file located at the CD at '\Drivers' directory or on the 'Drivers' Floppy disk. (If you have Windows 95 OSR 2, you have to use this location for the second path as well.) Now please follow the instructions given by the install program. After installation you find the user interface under Programs - Diamond - Dtv2000 Or, if you have already a DTV 2000 board installed: Insert your installation CD, select the menu items 'File' and then 'Run' in the Windows Program Manager and enter: :START After starting choose Multimedia Add on and DTV 2000 will be displayed. While pressing NEXT the software will be installed. During the installation of the software you may receive a message that a newer version of a file exists on your system (e.g. an installation procedure file like 'Setup16.dll', because the installation files are used for most of the Diamond boards). You should select NO to replace this file with the one that comes with the DTV 2000 software. 3. Compatibility ================ This card is compatible to all graphic boards with DirectX 5 drivers, linear frame buffer access and a PCI 2.x compliant motherboard, supporting PCI bus mastering. We tested the following cards successfully (selection): - Stealth 3D 2000 Pro (Virge DX) - Stealth 3D 2000 (Virge) - Stealth 3D 3000 (Virge/VX) - Stealth Video 2001 (Trio V+) - Viper V330 - Matrox Millenium - Mirage Video at Soyo SY5TS2 If you should have problems while dipsplaying TV, you can adjust the settings at: settings/overlay-preview and at settings/driver configuration. We are providing different standard settings for different graphics cards. Depending from your PC system additional changings could be necessary. Please still use the newest drivers for your graphics card. Motherboards: The PA-2005 motherboard from First International Computer, Inc. with the VIA VPI chipset does not work with the DTV 2000. The next version, the VPX chipset has fixed this bug. Remarks to the Graphic boards: The S3 968/868 chip contains a bug which may cause problems with the DTV 2000 card when starting up Windows 95. The bug is that the 968/868 states that it requires 32 Meg of frame buffer memory when it actually decodes 64 Meg of frame buffer memory on PCI. Sometimes the DTV 2000 card gets mapped by Windows 95 into the 968 upper 32 Meg of decode address. This problem causes a system hang up. The fix for this problem is to remap the DTV 2000 card. To do this follow these directions: 1. Start Windows 95 in SAFE MODE. 2. Run the application DTV20FIX which should be already in your Windows 95 directory ( e.g. C:\Windows ). After rebooting your system the bug should be fixed. If DTV20FIX is not in your Windows 95 directory, you'll find it at your installation CD under '\Install\Digvideo\Dtv2000\Win95'. Copy the two files DTV20FIX.EXE and SHIFTPCI.EXE manually to your Windows 95 directory. 4. Restrictions =============== - Before changing the resolution / refresh rate / color depth on the fly (e.g. with quickres), please close the TV application. - It may happen that you get a black / pink TV windows during capturing an AVI file. This performance problem should disappier if you decrease the TV window size. - Though multiple TV and input windows can be opened only one can be active. Two buttons on the remote control may indicate TV but there is only one tuner! - Most capture applications (e.g. Microsoft Netmeeting) will not operate with two or more drivers loaded at the same time. There should be only one active capture driver, others (e.g. Diamond S3 Live Video Driver) must be disabled in the control panel before: Settings - Control Panel - Multimedia: Advanced - Video Capture Devices: Select Driver - Properties and click at 'do not use...'. 5. Support / Service / Latest Software ====================================== Please note the SuperCD for most current information about all our support services. To get this information please call the program 'Start' and select the menu item 'Information'.
