About Todd DeMelle I'm a freelance illustrator with an M.F.A. in illustration from the Savannah College of Art and Design. I've been using a Mac for eight years, and have been pushing the digital imaging for about a year. Now my work is all digital for print or for screen. KPT filters and Kai's Power Tips and Tricks have been a big influence on the development of my digital style. I learned the secrets of chops with Kai's tips on AOL, and have found many interesting uses for Kai's snowy mask technique. It is how the aura around the Goddess image was generated for one. I bought the KPT filters at the same time I first bought Photoshop. I can't imagine Photoshop without the gradient designer, the texture explorer, HP noise, selection info, and other HSC tools I've integrated into my modus operandi. The best part has been, as I've grown more comfortable experimenting more and more deeply with the digital medium, I've found many of these tools impossible to outgrow. Their scope of possibility is immense. Although I enjoy painting fantastic subject matter, I try to maintain a sophistication appropriate to commercial uses. My style is a combination of rendering and filtering, complimenting a highly modeled airbrush technique with subtle organic textures and gradients.
